Important Decision Criteria
CONTRAST The difference between the lightest and darkest areas of the display, defines the clarity of the image. The eye is sensitive to contrast.
BRIGHTNESS The amount of light produced by the display, however the eye is less sensitive to brightness
COLOUR Improves the 'perception' of 'contrast' and 'brightness' and adds 'style' to the product
RESOLUTION Determines the amount of information that can be displayed
CHARACTER SIZE 'Size matters', and defines how far away the display can be easily read
VIEWING ANGLE Defines how easy the display can be read from the top, 12 o'clock or the bottom 6 o'clock and side to side
AMBIENT LIGHTING Will the display need to be read in the dark, daylight or bright sunlight? This determines the type of display, reflective, transflective or transmissive
TEMPERATURE What temperature range will the product operate over? Determines the need for standard or wide temperature fluid
LIFETIME Displays can deteriorate over time, choices are available to extend this lifetime dependant on conditions
